The assignment for this class (DIGM 2353 Page Layout and Design) was to design an album for an artist based on a historical art movement. The band I chose was the Gorillaz, and the art movement I chose was the Dadaist movement.

“The cover for this album was inspired by the Dadaist movement of the early 20th century that erupted as areaction to World War I. Dada was made up of counter-culture ideals and aesthetics, embracing a chaotic and absurd view to life, while protesting against issues such as war and capitalism. Similarly, the music of the Gorillaz challenges these same issues that still rule society today, and bring awareness to recent socio-political themes while experimenting against mainstream music with their various genres and featured artists.”

The challenge in this project was to create cohesive imagery that represents the band, while adhering to an absurdist art style.
